Mercedes-Benz receives 1st Level 3 Autonomy approval for US market.


Mercedes-Benz has received Level 3 autonomous driving approval for its vehicles in the US market. 
This  allows for certain functions such as lane keeping and adaptive cruise control to be performed automatically, but the driver must still be able to take control when prompted. This is the first time a car manufacturer has received Level 3 approval for the US market.

Level 3 autonomy means the vehicle can perform certain driving functions, such as accelerating, braking, and steering, under specific conditions, but the driver must be prepared to take over when prompted. The approval for the US market allows Mercedes-Benz to offer advanced driver assistance systems in its vehicles that can assist the driver with tasks like highway driving, traffic jam assist, and lane keeping.
