Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India, having taken office on May 26, 2014. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Prior to becoming Prime Minister, Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. He is known for his economic policies, which have been credited with revitalizing India's economy and reducing corruption. 

Narendra Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in the small town of Vadnagar in the Indian state of Gujarat. He came from a family of grocers and helped his father sell tea at the local railway station as a child. Modi was an active member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from a young age, and went on to work for the organization full-time after completing his education.

Modi began his political career in the early 1980s as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a right-wing political party in India. He quickly rose through the ranks of the party and was appointed the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Modi implemented a number of economic policies that were credited with revitalizing the state's economy and reducing corruption.

Modi was elected as the Prime Minister of India in May 2014 and was re-elected again in 2019.
